it's been a while

As I was going through my bookmarked pages I stumbled across this long forgotten blog. How could I have forgotten about it? Life, I guess. There's been one pretty major change since my last post - a new addition to our crazy crew.  A gorgeous little boy by the name of Reuben. He's now two months old, with Tilly turning two next month and jake turning four in February.
Life has been nothing less than hectic for the last year or so. The week after I started back at work (after mat leave) in Sep last year, josh started working away. He was 11 days on, 3 days off so we saw him every second weekend. I was basically a single mum for that time and it was super tough. Thank god for my mum helping out. In the January we found out I was pregnant. All together now... surprise! After the initial shock subdued, excitement took over. Battling morning sickness while working part time and looking after two energetic kiddies was bloody hard work! I was rapt when josh came home for good in June (I was 6 months pregnant by this stage). Everyone kept telling me how hard it would be with three kids, but life was much more challenging when it was just me and the two kids. total props to single mums! So although life is crazy, it's also fun :)

Fun facts!

Jake (3.5 yo)
- loves all the Toy Stories
- calls TMNT the 'ginger turtles'
- can be so incredibly sweet to tilly (when he's not being a typical brother.  Lol)
- loves a quiet cuddle and is a total mummy's boy (no complaints from me)
- flies around on his scooter and balance bike

Tilly (23 months old)
- language is coming along in leaps and bounds ('no, mummy' is a favorite)
- couldn't say 'reuben' so called him 'marlin' instead
- says 'wahbahloo' for 'love you'
- is a little tomboy and hates having her hair done (but loves her shoes)
- can give as good as she gets
- is a little dancer

Reubs (2 months old)
- started smiling
- has put on over 3kgs since birth and is off the weight chart at 6.7kgs. Ge was half a kilo lighter than tilly at birth, and at his first vaccinations, he was a whole kilo heavier!
- is sleeping pretty well (usually only one wake up overnight)
- will sleep for long periods in is capsule during thr day, but nowhere else

sleep!

So, tilly has slept 7.30pm-7.30am (with a dream feed at 10ish) for three nights in a row! You little ripper! We got our first giggle last friday night too, with both grandma's here to witness it. I teared up a little. I'm such a sooky lah-lah. Lol.

love

Basically this is just a brag post about how much I love my little family. Jake is being extra xheeky today and referring to josh and I as 'Joshie' and 'Lozzie'. It's pretty funny actually. Tilly is just growing so quickly. Her newest trick is a big girl cry. Bye bye newborn squawk - it's a few decibels higher now. She had her first try of the bumbo today and loved sitting up,eeven if it only lasted 30 secs before the tears started.

Zzzzz

Tilly spent her first night in her own bedroom last night.  It was a little bit sad but it was so nice not having to be super quiet. Jake was in his room from about four days old so Tilly got to enjoy our company for a few more weeks than her brother ;)

She looks so tiny

Happy monthday!

My little girl is three months old. How did that happen? Where hav e those last 12 weeks gone? People say how time flies, and it really does. So much moreso with #2.
When Jake turned 3 months, we celebrated with a cake (like we did and 1 and 2 too). Poor Tilly gets nothing, apart from extra cuddles.

Things i love about my kidlets:
- tilly settles to Bruno Mars 'just the way you are' (thank youbto aunty katie for discovering this)
- jake pronounces mushroom 'mushloom'
- jake can tell you that katie is on a plane to ameroca to her new home, and that pop is in melbourne
- tilly gives great big smiles when she sees me after she wakes
- jake's favourite snacks are almonds, dried apricots and chips (of the banana variety)

Moving forward

Gold NI-W810CSNSJ

This week Jake started his transition to the next room up at daycare. He's now a big boy in nursery three! He is settling in well and talks non stop from the time he gets picked up (he'sin care Mon-Wed) until he goes to bed.

Tilly is 8 weeks old today. She's discovered her hands and will suck on them all day long. She has also been hitting the hanging toy on her playmat. She's growing up so fast! She's also moved into 000 clothes!

Favourite things at the mo:
- watching Jake kiss Tilly and call her baby girl
- playing 'pretend' games with Jake. He loves to go to the pretend shops with his pretend money to buy pretend chips.
- locking eyes with Tilly and watching her bust into a massive smile.

random Fact: Jake will eat just about anything if it can be dipped in a sauce of any description.

I'm.going to make it my aim.to update this blog as much as possible. It might mean every day or every week. I'm not sure yet. It depends on how much time the two ferrets allow ;)

Jake turns two this month (where on earth did that time go?) And Tilly is already 7 weeks old. She's started smiling and I've even heard a chuckle (this happened during a burping session after a night feed so it might have just been lack of sleep playing tricks on me). She's super attentive and I'm loving our 'conversations' that involve a lot of goose and gaahs. For the last 2 days she can for for more then 10 minutes without being held. Believe me, it's a minor miracle!

Jake is a ratbag.  His latest saying is 'I won't'. It's going to get old very quickly. He's taken to giving his teddy bear some 'tucker' (breast feeding!) And even remembers to pull his top down! He's had a language explosion while josh was off work (when Tilly was born) and I'm absolutely loving the communication now. He's such a funny little man.
